ROXBURY, Boston.- A 20-year-old Jamaica Plain man has been arrested in connection with a July shooting in Roxbury that left a person with a gunshot wound, according to Boston police.
Aahmonyea Platt was taken into custody at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026, after officers assigned to the Roxbury district, working with Boston Housing Authority Police, located him near Minden Street in the Mildred C. Hailey development.
Police said officers on patrol observed Platt walking in the area and confirmed an active arrest warrant. He was arrested without incident in front of 82 Minden Street.
Platt faces charges of assault to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, attempted assault and battery with a firearm, and carrying a firearm without a license, second offense.
The charges are connected to a shooting reported shortly after midnight on July 5, 2026, near Smith Street and Pauline Bennett Way in Roxbury.
Officers responding to a report of a person shot found a trail of blood and ballistic evidence at the scene. The victim had been transported by private vehicle to a local hospital, where the victim was treated for a gunshot wound.
Investigators collected physical evidence at both the shooting scene and the hospital during the investigation. Police said a second suspect has not yet been positively identified and the investigation remains active.
Separately, investigators developed probable cause to seek charges against the victim for trafficking a Class B controlled substance after narcotics were seized during the victim’s medical treatment. Police said that matter is being handled independently from the shooting investigation.
Platt is expected to face the charges in Roxbury District Court.
