ROXBURY, Boston.- A 15-year-old Roxbury resident was arrested after a shooting during the Puerto Rican Festival in Franklin Park, where police said officers seized a loaded revolver following a foot pursuit. The juvenile faces multiple firearm-related charges and is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
The incident occurred at about 7:49 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, near Playstead Road in Franklin Park. According to the Boston Police Department, officers assigned to directed patrol for the festival heard multiple gunshots coming from inside the park.
As the large crowd began to disperse, officers saw an individual running while holding his waistband and repeatedly looking behind him. Police said the suspect fled toward Seaver Street, where officers caught up with him after a brief pursuit.
During a struggle with officers, the suspect allegedly continued holding the front of his waistband. Police said a firearm fell from his waistband during the scuffle, and officers took him into custody.
Authorities identified the weapon as an I.J. Target Sealed 8 revolver loaded with four spent shell casings and three live rounds in the cylinder.
Police said additional officers witnessed the suspect emerge from bushes near the Giraffe Entrance adjacent to Playstead Road, where he allegedly fired several shots into the air. After making eye contact with officers, the teen allegedly fired another round before fleeing toward Seaver Street, where he was apprehended.
The 15-year-old, whose identity was not released because he is a juvenile, is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on charges of carrying a loaded firearm without a license, four counts of discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition without a Firearm Identification (FID) card, and resisting arrest.
