A fugitive wanted in connection with a 2017 fatal shooting in Boston’s South End has been arrested in North Carolina following a multi-agency investigation.
Alan Lewis, 40, of Brockton, was taken into custody in Charlotte on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, by members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit, U.S. Marshals, and Massachusetts State Police. Authorities located Lewis after an extended investigation spanning multiple jurisdictions. He is expected to be arraigned at a later date on a charge of murder.
The arrest is linked to a shooting that occurred on Monday, November 6, 2017, at approximately 6:38 p.m., when officers assigned to South End responded to reports of shots fired near Massachusetts Avenue and Boylston Street in Boston.
While officers were responding to the scene, a motor vehicle crash occurred at 333 Massachusetts Avenue. The driver involved in the crash was found to have sustained gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The victim, Brent Stevenson, 37, of Boston, was later pronounced dead.
