BOSTON, Mass.- Applications are now open for a Boston charity boxing event supporting cancer research, with women across Greater Boston invited to participate in the 13th annual “Belles of the Brawl” this fall.
Organized by Haymakers for Hope, the event is scheduled for Oct. 14 at MGM Music Hall at Fenway. Applications will remain open through June 1, according to organizers.
Participants selected for the program will train for four months with local boxing gyms and coaches before competing in sanctioned amateur bouts aimed at raising money and awareness for cancer research, survivorship and care.
Now entering its 13th year, “Belles of the Brawl” is one of the nonprofit’s annual fundraising events centered on amateur boxing and community participation.
Haymakers for Hope said it has raised more than $42 million since its founding in 2010 to support cancer research, awareness, survivorship and care programs. The organization also said more than 1,500 participants have competed through its charitable boxing programs.
According to the nonprofit, last year’s “Belles of the Brawl” participants raised more than $231,000 in support of its mission.
“Every year, Belles of the Brawl introduces us to an incredible group of women willing to challenge themselves physically and mentally for a cause that touches so many lives,” founder Julie Anne Kelly said in a statement. “The dedication, camaraderie, and passion that comes out of this process is truly remarkable, and we’re excited to welcome the next class of fighters for 2026.”
Participants will be paired with USA Boxing-registered gyms and trainers for structured boxing instruction and fundraising efforts leading up to the October event.
Orientation and training are expected to begin in mid-June, according to organizers. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale Aug. 11.
