An 18-year-old Dorchester man has been arrested in connection with a double shooting that left one victim with life-threatening injuries earlier this month in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood.
According to the Boston Police Department, members of the department’s Fugitive Unit arrested Jaynell Sumler at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, on a warrant issued out of Dorchester Court.
Sumler, 18, of Dorchester, is charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and discharging a firearm and striking a building.
The charges stem from a shooting reported at about 6:48 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, near 69 Kingsdale Street in Dorchester.
Officers assigned to the area responded to a radio call for a person shot and, upon arrival, located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to local hospitals. Police said one of the victims sustained life-threatening injuries.
The department’s Homicide Unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
