A woman was robbed and assaulted Thursday night after confronting a group of juveniles who allegedly stole her wallet outside an East Boston gas station, according to police.
The incident occurred at about 8:54 p.m. May 7 near a Mobil gas station at 5 Falcon St. in East Boston, where officers responding to a report of a person with a knife encountered the victim outside the business, according to the Boston Police Department.
Investigators said the victim had entered the convenience store and observed a group of approximately five juvenile females arguing with an employee. Police said one of the suspects grabbed the victim’s wallet before the group fled on foot.
According to police, the victim chased the group and caught up with them near 425 Border St., where one of the suspects allegedly shoved her to the ground and kicked her multiple times during a struggle over the wallet. The victim regained possession of the wallet, but later discovered cash was missing, police said.
Officers later located several juveniles inside an apartment building on Border Street after obtaining images of the suspects. Police said one juvenile female was identified as the suspect accused of stealing the wallet, while another was identified as the suspect accused of assaulting the victim.
Authorities arrested a 14-year-old girl from Mattapan on a charge of unarmed robbery. A 16-year-old girl from Dorchester was charged with unarmed robbery, unarmed assault to rob, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
Police said the older juvenile resisted arrest and caused a disturbance before officers took her into custody.
Both juveniles are expected to be arraigned in Chelsea Juvenile Court.
