A break-in at a Beacon Hill home led to the arrest of a Boston man who was found naked inside the residence Saturday morning, according to authorities.
Boston Police officers responded around 8:20 a.m. on May 2 to a report of a breaking and entering in progress at a residence on Myrtle Street. A 911 caller reported that an unknown man had entered the home and was inside the living room.
When officers arrived, they were met by the resident, who told them he was on the third floor while the suspect remained on the second floor. Police proceeded upstairs, announcing their presence, and heard noises coming from a second-floor bathroom.
Inside, officers found the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Jainel Roman of Boston, seated on a toilet and unclothed. He was detained without incident as officers continued their investigation.
The resident told police he had woken around 8:00 a.m. and discovered the man naked on a couch, smoking what appeared to be a crack pipe. He then returned upstairs to secure his children and called 911. The children, who were home at the time, remained upstairs and had no contact with the suspect, though they were frightened by the incident.
Roman was transported to Nashua Street Jail for booking. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges including breaking and entering in the daytime for a felony with a person in fear, vandalizing property, and open and gross lewdness.
