Boston Police arrested two men following a traffic stop on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, during which officers seized two firearms and pills believed to be ecstasy from a vehicle.
District B-2 officers conducted the stop at approximately 9:26 p.m. in the area of Eldon Street and Washington Street after observing a vehicle fail to stop at a sign and display excessively tinted windows. The vehicle was later stopped in front of 28 Hewins Street.
During the stop, the passenger provided false identification and attempted to walk away before being detained. Officers subsequently searched the vehicle and seized two loaded firearms, a Taurus G2C and a Smith and Wesson SD40VE, as well as a pill bottle containing pills believed to be ecstasy.
The driver was identified as Thomas Searcy, 29, of Boston, and the passenger as Charles Phillips, 38, of Jamaica Plain. Both were arrested.
Searcy faces multiple firearm and ammunition charges. Phillips faces additional firearm related charges, including as a repeat offender, along with possession of a Class B substance and outstanding warrants from Malden and Quincy District Courts for assault and battery.
Both men are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
