A 15-year-old Dorchester resident was taken into custody Monday afternoon following a shooting that left another juvenile injured, according to the Boston Police Department.
Officers assigned to District B-2 responded around 2:43 p.m. on April 13 to a report of a person with a gun near 100 Washington Street, outside a Burger King in Dorchester. Before the dispatch, officers on patrol at the Dr. Albert D. Holland School of Technology reported hearing what sounded like a gunshot in the area.
Upon arrival, officers found a juvenile male suffering from a gunshot wound to the foot. Police provided initial medical aid until Boston EMS transported the victim to a local hospital. The injuries were described as non-life-threatening. Investigators seized ballistic evidence from the parking lot.
Police broadcast a description of the suspect, who was believed to have fled the scene on a black moped toward Vaughan Avenue. Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force later located an individual matching that description behind 19 Vaughan Avenue. The suspect fled on foot when approached but was apprehended after a brief chase near 28 Vaughan Avenue.
Authorities said officers seized a 9mm Taurus 709 Slim firearm loaded with four rounds of ammunition, along with the moped and clothing believed to be worn during the shooting.
The juvenile suspect is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, assault and battery by discharge of a firearm, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
