On Friday, April 3, 2026, the Youth Violence Strike Force, in coordination with Boston Housing Police, Massachusetts State Police, and Cambridge Police, apprehended a wanted fugitive and seized an illegal firearm in Cambridge.
Officers were investigating the whereabouts of 27-year-old Daryl Dirtion of South Boston, who was wanted on five outstanding warrants from Suffolk Superior Court and South Boston District Court. The warrants included charges of carrying a firearm without a license, assault and battery, strangulation, malicious destruction of property, and multiple violations of abuse prevention orders.
Dirtion was first spotted near Richdale Avenue. Upon noticing officers, he fled on foot through a residential driveway and onto nearby train tracks. During the search, authorities recovered a loaded Glock 22 with 15 rounds hidden in a black Carhartt jacket beneath a deck on Pemberton Street.
Dirtion was ultimately located hiding in a shed on Middlesex Street. He resisted arrest, prompting a trooper to deploy a taser after verbal warnings. He complied and was taken into custody without further incident. EMS evaluated him on scene before he was transported to Boston Medical Center for additional medical assessment.
In addition to his existing warrants, Dirtion faces new charges in Cambridge District Court, including carrying a firearm without a license (second offense), possession of a large-capacity firearm and ammunition, breaking and entering, trespassing, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
