A dispute over a shoveled parking space in Dorchester ended in bloodshed and an arrest, according to Boston police.
Officers responded at approximately 1:25 a.m. on February 4, 2026, to a report of a person stabbed near 59 Evans Street. When they arrived, they found three individuals standing on the sidewalk outside the address. A 41-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were suffering from significant bleeding to their hands. Blood was visible on the sidewalk, walkway, and surrounding snowbanks.
Police detained the third individual at the scene, later identified as 47-year-old Enel Janvier of Dorchester, while officers provided immediate aid to the injured parties. Boston EMS transported both victims to local hospitals for treatment.
According to investigators, a language barrier required assistance from a translating officer. Further investigation by responding officers and District detectives determined that the altercation began over a parking space that had been cleared following the recent winter storm.
Police said the male victim arrived at the location and observed Janvier’s vehicle parked in a space he believed he had personally shoveled. A confrontation followed and escalated when the female victim became involved.
During the altercation, Janvier allegedly stabbed the male victim in the hand with a knife. The female victim suffered a hand injury while attempting to intervene and disarm him, authorities said.
Janvier was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury.
