On Saturday, November 1, 2025, Boston Police officers arrested 22-year-old Jaekwan Joseph of Newton following a traffic stop that led officers to seize a firearm.
At approximately 10:37 p.m., officers allegedly observed a vehicle traveling on Washington Street without a front license plate. After conducting a safe U-turn, they followed the vehicle onto Millet Street and discovered the license plate did not match the registered vehicle.
The vehicle pulled over near Park Street, where officers activated their emergency lights and sirens. Upon approaching the occupants, officers explained the reason for the stop. During a motor vehicle inventory search, officers seized a firearm from the vehicle. District Detectives responded to process the scene, identifying the weapon as a Smith & Wesson 9mm with one round in the chamber and seven rounds in the magazine.
Joseph was taken into custody and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of possession of ammunition without an FID card, carrying a firearm without a license, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
