Thirteen-year-old with active warrant arrested after stolen moped crash in Dorchester

A 13-year-old boy from Dorchester was arrested Wednesday morning, June 25, 2025, after a crash involving a stolen moped near the intersection of Lyndhurst Street and Washington Street.

Boston Police officers from the Dorchester district responded around 8:00 AM to a report of a collision. A driver at the scene told officers that his vehicle was hit on the driver’s side door as he was turning onto Washington Street. The driver was not hurt, but EMS checked an 11-month-old child inside the car as a precaution. No injuries were reported.

Officers reviewed photos from the scene and identified the suspect as a local juvenile who was already known to police. Records showed he had an open warrant for a separate case, and the moped had been reported stolen.

Officers found the boy walking near his home later that morning and arrested him without any issues.

He was brought to Dorchester District Court and charged with running from the scene of a crash, driving without a license, having a stolen vehicle, and damaging property in a separate case. His name was not released because of his age.
