Gerald Vick, 31, of Dorchester, was arrested earlier today in Georgia, ending a six-month search that began when he fled Massachusetts on the eve of his trial in connection with the 2023 J’ouvert Parade shooting in Boston.
Vick was taken into custody without incident by the U.S. Marshals Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force. His arrest followed a lengthy investigation led by the Boston Police Fugitive Unit, with support from state and federal agencies.
Authorities say Vick had been on the run since removing his court-ordered electronic monitoring bracelet the night before he was due in court. He was wanted in connection with a shooting that injured eight people during the annual J’ouvert Parade on August 26, 2023.
The shooting occurred just before 8 a.m. near Blue Hill Avenue and Talbot Avenue in Dorchester, where officers responded to gunfire and found multiple victims. Six men and two women had been shot; six were taken to local hospitals, while two declined treatment. All injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.
