On Tuesday evening, a three-alarm fire consumed a multi-family residence located at 15 Bruce Street in Dorchester, resulting in the displacement of five adults, two children, and three dogs, as reported by the Boston Fire Department.
The fire ignited at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the basement of the building and rapidly spread upward, ultimately reaching the roof. In response to the escalating situation, the Boston Fire Department activated a third alarm at 8:07 p.m.
By 8:24 p.m., the firefighting teams had successfully extinguished the flames.
Deputy Chief Gerard Viola addressed the media at the scene, reporting that one dog did not survive the incident, though no human injuries were reported. He commended the firefighters for their swift and skillful response in containing the blaze. The American Red Cross is currently assisting those displaced by the fire.
An investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing.
