A Dorchester man is facing multiple charges following a series of break-ins and thefts in the neighborhood. Derek Ford, 39, was arrested on Thelma Road at approximately 4:15 PM on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. His arrest followed a joint investigation by Boston Police detectives and the Youth Violence Strike Force.
The arrest is connected to a pattern of crimes that began in December 2024, when authorities linked several incidents to the same suspect. On December 1, officers responded to a report of a break-in on Stoughton Street in Roxbury, where money was stolen from an ATM and a cash drawer.
In Dorchester, similar incidents began on December 5, when a break-in occurred on Neponset Avenue, and tools used in the crime were found on-site. An attempted theft was reported on December 8 at Hallet Street, targeting an ATM. On December 28, a store on Adams Street was broken into, and the suspect was caught on video stealing from the cash register. On January 5, two separate break-ins were reported on Adams Street and Bowdoin Street. Video footage showed the same suspect committing both incidents and stealing from cash registers.
