Firefighters responded to a two-alarm blaze in an abandoned building on the 600 block of Columbia Road in Dorchester early Sunday morning. The Boston Fire Department reported that heavy fire was visible on the second floor and attic when crews arrived shortly before 7:00 AM.
Crews attacked the fire from all sides, including from the roof of an adjacent building, to prevent it from spreading further. By 7:38 AM, the fire was knocked down, and firefighters had begun overhauling the site to extinguish lingering embers.
Deputy Chief Malone provided a briefing, confirming no injuries or displacements. The Boston Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Unit (FIU) is working to determine the cause of the fire. Detail companies will remain on site to monitor for any remaining hot spots.
