A two-alarm fire broke out at a multi-family home at 147 Draper Street, Dorchester, shortly after midnight on November 17, 2024.
Boston Fire Department crews arrived to find heavy flames consuming the first and second floors of the building, with the fire extending through the roof.
Firefighters deployed multiple ground ladders and hoses to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to a neighboring home. They battled the internal and external fire, bringing it under control by 12:51 AM. Overhaul operations began soon after, with detail crews monitoring hot spots and extinguishing embers that ignited a nearby tree.
The fire displaced six residents and caused an estimated $350,000 in damages. The Boston Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Unit is working to determine the cause.
