Governor Maura Healey has appointed Geoffrey Noble as the next Colonel of the Massachusetts State Police. Noble, a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the New Jersey State Police, brings over 30 years of law enforcement experience.

Governor Healey praised Noble as “a principled, respected leader who is widely praised for his integrity, compassion and ability to bring people together.” Noble will assume leadership in October.

Noble expressed his commitment to the role, highlighting his focus on accessibility, transparency, and integrity.

“The hardworking men and women of the State Police show up every day to keep the people of Massachusetts safe, and they deserve a leader who is accessible, transparent and committed to the highest standards of integrity and excellence. That is the focus I will bring as Colonel,” he stated.

The Governor also thanked Interim Colonel John E. Mawn, Jr., who has led the department since February 2023, following the retirement of Colonel Christopher Mason.

Since retiring from law enforcement in 2022, Noble has served as Regional President for Inter-Con Security Systems, overseeing operations in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic and managing over 1,500 security professionals. His responsibilities include security oversight at major sites like JFK and Newark Liberty International Airports, as well as the World Trade Center.

Originally from Rhode Island, Noble spent much of his childhood on Cape Cod. He currently resides in New Jersey with his wife, Sara, and their three children, but will soon relocate to Massachusetts. Noble holds degrees from Seton Hall University and a certificate from the University of Virginia, and he is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
