Traffic stop for tinted windows leads to arrest for “defaced” Glock

A traffic stop conducted by the State Police on Massachusetts Avenue in Dorchester led to the arrest of Duwayne Corbett, 44, of Stoughton. The incident occurred around 2:00 PM when Trooper Jeffrey Lang of the Troop H Community Action Team pulled over a Jeep Compass for having windows with a visible light transmission below the legal limit of 35%.

According to the law enforcement agency, Trooper Lang detected the odor of marijuana and observed a marijuana blunt and a loose packet of marijuana near the center console. During the interaction, Trooper Lang questioned Corbett about a bag located behind the driver’s seat. Corbett handed over the bag, which allegedly contained a Glock 9mm handgun equipped with a red dot sight, a 16-round magazine, and a defaced serial number. Corbett, who did not have a Massachusetts license to carry a firearm, was then arrested and placed in the back of a state police cruiser.

Following the arrest, Trooper Lang confirmed that the Jeep’s front windows allowed only 11% light transmission, far below the legal limit.

Corbett is facing multiple charges, including unlicensed possession of a firearm, firearm violations with three prior violent or drug-related offenses, receiving a firearm with a defaced serial number, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a large-capacity firearm, possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card (FID), and a window tint violation. He was scheduled to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
