On Thursday, August 15th, 2024, at around 5:30 PM, Boston Police officers responded to a report of a person with a gun at 488 Blue Hill Avenue in Dorchester. The response led to the arrest of Davente Monteiro, 24, of Dorchester, on firearm-related charges.
When officers arrived, they encountered a man pointing at a nearby vehicle. The man reported that earlier, near Blue Hill Avenue and Columbia Road, he had a verbal argument with the occupants of the vehicle. According to the man, the situation escalated when Monteiro exited the vehicle, took photos of his car, and then opened the passenger-side door while making threats, leading him to believe Monteiro was armed.
Officers investigated and searched the vehicle, finding a loaded firearm in a backpack on the backseat. The gun was a Glock 30 .45 caliber handgun, holding one round in the chamber and 17 rounds in the magazine.
Monteiro was arrested and is expected to face multiple charges in Dorchester District Court, including carrying an unlicensed firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and assault-related offenses.
