Traffic stop for no inspection sticker results in illegal fentanyl bust on Gallivan Boulevard

A traffic stop on Gallivan Boulevard in Dorchester led to the arrest of Roniel Steele, 31, of Dorchester. Steele’s vehicle, a Nissan Altima which lacked an inspection sticker, was pulled over early in the morning. State Police Trooper Tim Moriarty of the SP-South Boston Barracks discovered that Steele had an active arrest warrant.

During the stop on June 24, 2024, Trooper Moriarty found a loaded Springfield Hellcat 9MM handgun and additional ammunition in the vehicle. Steele’s firearm license had been suspended. An inventory search of the vehicle also revealed 1.9 ounces of marijuana and 16 grams of fentanyl.

Steele was transported to the SP-South Boston Barracks for booking and arraigned in Dorchester District Court on multiple charges, including possession of a firearm, trafficking in fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and operating a vehicle without an inspection sticker.
