Under a sunny sky and a perfect 80-degree temperature, the 118th Dorchester Day Parade brought the community together in celebration on Sunday, June 2, 2024.
Hundreds of residents and visitors lined Dorchester Avenue from Lower Mills to Savin Hill, cheering and appreciating the diverse cultures represented in the event. People of all ages, from babies to the elderly, enjoyed the festivities.
Various groups, including local organizations, businesses, bands, first responders, military personnel, and politicians, marched along the 3.2-mile route to uphold the cherished tradition.
This year’s Chief Marshall was USMC Jeff Buckley, and Meaghan Driscoll served as the Mayor of Dorchester. Nicole Adkins and Isabella Robbins were crowned Little Miss Dorchester and Young Miss Dorchester, respectively.
The Boston Police Department did an outstanding logistics and support job, with officers assisting the community at every block. The parade once again showcased the local community’s ability to organize and unite, celebrating diversity with respect and dignity in a fun and safe environment.
