In less than a week, Massachusetts will advance its clocks forward one hour as daylight saving time begins. This means we’ll lose an hour of sleep but gain more daylight in the evenings.

Daylight saving time will end in November when we set our clocks back one hour, giving us an extra hour of sleep and more daylight in the mornings.

For 2024, “spring forward” daylight saving time will begin on Sunday, March 10 at 2 a.m. local time, and will end or “fall back” on Sunday, November 3 at 2 a.m. local time.

Efforts to make daylight saving time permanent, like the Sunshine Protection Act, have been proposed in Congress but have not yet become law.
