A single-car crash that occurred early Thursday, January 4, 2024, on Morrissey Boulevard in Dorchester resulted in the loss of two male teenage juvenile occupants, according to the Massachusetts State Police. Two others sustained injuries, with one in critical condition at a Boston hospital and another hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The vehicle, a 2013 Hyundai Accent, was reportedly speeding on the northbound side near UMass-Boston at 3:17 AM when it crashed. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, where one victim was declared deceased, and three others were transported to hospitals, and then one of the hospitalized individuals later succumbed to injuries, the State Police confirmed in a statement.
Further details from the State Police identified the deceased as a 14-year-old male from Dorchester and another teenage male. Meanwhile, a third occupant remained unidentified but in grave condition, while a 15-year-old from Dorchester was expected to survive.
The car involved had been reported stolen from Jamaica Plain earlier that morning, and authorities allegedly discovered a firearm in the vehicle. Investigations are ongoing to understand the sequence of events leading to the crash and the actions of the juveniles involved. Due to their ages, authorities have refrained from releasing their names according to state law.
