
The vibrant community of Dorchester will gather once again to celebrate the 6th Annual AJ’s Community Flag Football Game. This event, a tribute to the late AJ Monteiro, aims to foster unity, honor his memory, and promote the values he held dear.
Organized by the non-profit organization founded by AJ’s mother, Arminda Baptista, the event is set to run from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the Roberts Park (98 Dunbar Avenue, Dorchester, MA 02124) to promising an engaging day filled with activities that resonate with the spirit of togetherness and reflection. The flag football game, which has become a highly anticipated tradition, symbolizes teamwork and camaraderie, values AJ was passionate about.
The event’s schedule also includes an opportunity for attendees to immerse themselves in Gentle Yoga sessions from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. These 15-minute sessions will offer participants a chance to experience gentle yoga poses, practice breath exercises, and potentially engage in Reiki sessions, providing a moment of tranquility amidst the day’s excitement. Attendees are encouraged to bring their yoga mats to enhance their experience.
Arminda Baptista’s non-profit organization was established in honor of her late son, AJ, who tragically lost his life on September 5, 2017, just a mile away from his home in Dorchester. The organization, fueled by AJ’s enduring message of peace and unity, aims to bring the community together through various initiatives, with the annual AJ’s Community Flag Football Game being a prominent highlight.
