Established in 1874 as St. Mary’s Infant Asylum, the organization has expanded to offer seven programs aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty.
On March 13, 2023, the organization celebrated the opening of the new Carolyn Lynch Children’s Center on their Dorchester campus. The “state-of-the-art” early education center was made possible by a $1 million grant from The Lynch Foundation, established by Peter Lynch, a prominent Boston investor and philanthropist.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by community members, Peter Lynch, the Lynch Foundation Trustees, Boston City Councilor at-Large Erin Murphy, City Councilor Frank Baker, and Alexis Steel, President of St. Mary’s Center for Women and Children.
The newly opened center will provide support to families who are experiencing homelessness and also to children from the surrounding community who are in need.
