Police Commissioner Cox reads to children at Dorchester public school

Members of the Boston Police Department paid a visit to the William Monroe Trotter School in Dorchester on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, where Police Commissioner Michael Cox read to the children.

Commissioner Cox made a stop at a kindergarten class, deputized each of the kids and read the book “Change Sings: A Children’s Anthem” by Amanda Gorman.

Joining in on the event were several police officers from across the city, including members of the Command Staff.

The law enforcement officials commented that the event was an opportunity to establish strong relationships between police officers and the community, with a particular emphasis on the youngest members of the community.

This event is part of Boston Public Schools’ efforts to foster these positive relationships, according to the school district.
