Vietnamese American women can be seen strolling along Dorchester Avenue during the 2022 Dorchester Day Parade | Photo by Cristina EduardoThe 34th annual Tết in Boston festival, organized by the Vietnamese American Community of Massachusetts (VACM) and the New England Intercollegiate Vietnamese Student Association (NEIVSA), will bring people from all over Massachusetts to celebrate the most significant and popular holiday in Vietnamese culture, Tết Nguyên Đán.
Attendees will enjoy cultural dances, children’s games, and traditional Vietnamese food.
The event will take place at the Flynn Cruiseport (1 Black Falcon Ave, Boston, MA 02210) on Sunday, January 15, 2023, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Tết in Boston, which has celebrated the culture of Vietnamese and Vietnamese-Americans in the Greater Boston area for over 30 years, draws in around 2,000 attendees and more than 80 vendors, according to the organizers.
The event features a variety of cultural experiences such as food, art, music, and traditional activities, aimed to showcase and celebrate Vietnamese and Vietnamese-American culture.
Massachusetts has the highest population density of Vietnamese Americans in the United States, with 50,000 people residing. Tết, also known as Lunar New Year, is celebrated on the first day of the first month in the Lunar Calendar, and this year it falls on Sunday, January 22, the Year of the Cat, Xuân Hy Vọng (Spring of Hope).
