The use of masks was adopted for its supposed benefits to protect children and staff from the spread of SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19). Parents have the choice to impose masks on their children if they want, the same will apply to teachers.
“Individual teachers and staff members will be allowed to wear masks at their own discretion. All parents can decide for their own children whether a mask for their children is advisable. These personal decisions will be respected,” the Boston Archdiocese said in a statement.
The Archdiocese of Boston owns and operates 100 schools, attended by 31,000 students in 185 communities in the Metropolitan area.
