Around 11:30 a.m. on May 26, the Boston Fire Department responded to a fire at 86 Fayston Street in Dorchester’s Grove Hall neighborhood. The heavy flames at the rear of the building prompted the fire agency to order a 5th alarm that was quickly raised to a 7th alarm due to its extension.
The department informed that an estimate of 150 firefighters battled the flames for approximately four hours.

The fire damaged 5 multi-family buildings and displaced 32 adults, 16 kids, and “multiple pets,” the fire agency said.
Talking with the press, Fire Commissioner Dempsey informed that one resident was hospitalized with minor injuries and three firefighters were transported to the hospital for evaluation of minor injuries.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
