Democrat Biden defeats incumbent Republican President, Donald Trump, with 306 electoral votes versus 232. Massachusetts’s 11 electoral votes went to President-Elect Biden.
Biden won the election joined with California US Senator Kamala Devi Harris as his Vice-President.
President Trump has yet not conceded the election to Biden, sticking to his electoral fraud allegations regarding the November 3 general election. Trump is still challenging the results in several states, including Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Nevada.
Biden was born in 1942 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and when he was 10 years old, his family moved to Claymont, Delaware. He graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in history and political science and received a law degree from the Syracuse University Law School.
After graduating from the University, Biden served as a public defense attorney. His political career started as a member of the New Castle County Council (DE) from 1970 to 1972. In 1973 Biden was elected U.S. senator from Delaware until 2009 when he started service as President Barack Obama’s vice-president until 2017.
President-elect Biden is expected to be inaugurated as the 46th president on January 20, 2021.
