Heavy building fire displaces nine residents, causes $1 million in damages in Robinson Street

Friday morning on November 20, 2020, started with an extensive fire that damaged an occupied three-family house in Dorchester.

The fire department responded to a fire around 5:00 a.m. that was consuming building 36 in Robinson Street. Shortly after, the agency called a 3rd-alarm.

The fire destroyed the rear porches of the family building and spread to the carriage house. All fire companies worked in the extinguishing effort until the fire was knocked down around 6:00 a.m.

Fire Commissioner Dempsey reported that nine residents are displaced due to the incident, fortunately with no injuries. Firefighters also rescued three cats.

The Fire Investigation Unit is reviewing the causes of the fire that caused an estimated $1 Million in damages.
