Dorchester 12th Suffolk District State Representative Daniel Cullinane announced today that he would not seek the re-election for the next term.
“For me, this is the right time to move on from elected office to put my family first,” Cullinane said in a public statement. “This was the hardest decision of my professional career, but taking a step back from the demands of public life at the conclusion of this term is the right decision for my young family.”
Cullinane is married to Emily Torres-Cullinane. They have two children, William and Isabel.
In his duty as State Representative, Cullinane represented the 12th Suffolk District, including the neighborhood of Dorchester and parts of Mattapan, Hyde Park, Roslindale, and Milton. He has served the office for four terms.
“Thank you to my colleagues in government, and to the community leaders, who give so much of themselves, often without any recognition, to better our communities. It was an honor to have worked alongside you,” Cullinane said in the statement that could be read entirely here.
