The 2nd annual AJ’s Community Games come to bring peace and unity in Dorchester

Neighbors, friends, and family will gather in Dorchester to play flag football, have some food and celebration in the memory of resident Alberto “AJ” Monteiro.

AJ was violently killed on September 5th, 2017, when he was getting a haircut just one mile away from his home, in the neighborhood. He was a student of St. John Paul II Catholic Academy and the Catholic Memorial High School, and football athlete for the Dorchester Eagles Pop Warner Team, and the Catholic Memorial Knights.

AJ’s murder, unfortunately, is still part of the statistics of unsolved cases in Boston.

After his death, AJ’s mother Arminda Baptista created various non-profit initiatives in his memory intending to promote peace and unity in Boston, among them the AJ Monteiro Memorial Scholarship Fund at Saint John Paul II Catholic Academy, and the annual AJ’s Community Flag Football games.

This year’s AJ’s Community Games are a family-friendly event, and will be held at the Roberts Park (98 Dunbar Ave, Dorchester – MA 02124) on August 17th, 2019, from 1 PM to 5 PM.
