The Franklin Park Zoo in Boston will be one of the venues participating in the Free Fun Fridays program, sponsored by the Highland Street Foundation. The program, which began this past Sunday, June 28th and will run though August 30th 2019, includes a series of museums and cultural venues across the state, where they’ll be offering an open, free-of charge Friday following a schedule. This Friday, August 2nd 2019 will be Franklin Park Zoo’s Free Fun day, where special events such as Wicked Big Bugs will be offered to the attendants, at a discount price of $1/person.
Among the recommendations for this special day, the Park gave the following tips and information for new and regular visitors:
- Valet parking will be available for $20/car, and given the popularity of the event, it’s advised to arrive early since these spaces fill up quickly.
- Regular parking is free, but these lots fill quickly on Free Fun Fridays, same recommendation as above– public transportation is encouraged.
- Beware of long lines, given the large attendance to events like these.
- Even though Free Fun Friday is a rain or shine event, some exhibits may be closed, such as Butterfly Hollow, Aussie Aviary and Giraffe Savannah.
- The train will not be running on Free Fun Friday, to allow maximum space for guests on pathways.
- The park consists of 72 acres, so it’s a good idea to arrange a plan to visit with a group, and to find landmarks easy to identify, in case you end up separated, and look for Zoo staff in case of emergencies.
Other important FAQ about the Park can be found here. The Park is located at 1 Franklin Park Road (Boston MA 02121), and will be open this Friday from 10AM to 4PM, closing one hour earlier than regular schedule (last admission at 3:30PM).
