In the early hours of the Friday, July 5th 2019, a fire awoke the Pontes family at their residency in Mt. Everett Street in Dorchester. The fire, caused by illegal fireworks detonated during the evening of the 4th of July, spread to another home next door and caused massive damages, which thankfully didn’t result in any of them getting harmed as they evacuated safely, but they lost everything in the process. They had been living there for 25 years, and now they’ve been forcefully displaced.

(Source: GoFundMe)Community members have rallied together to help them rebuild and to recover what they’ve lost, and for that purpose, they’ve set up a fundraising campaign at GoFundMe, where anyone who feels generous may contribute to the cause. The official and only fundraising page can be found here, and at the moment of the writing, they’ve gathered $10,000 out of their projected $15,000 goal, in a matter of two weeks.
