A vigil to remember neighbor Jassy Correia was held at Saint Peter’s parish

Born in Cape Verde, Jassy Gelssa Pires Correia migrated to the United States when she was just a little girl. She was a Dorchester neighbor.

On February 24, Jassy was kidnapped while leaving a night club in Boston where she was celebrating her 23rd birthday. She was later found dead, survived by her 2-year-old daughter, Gabriella.

On Thursday, March 8th, 2019, around 7:30 p.m., exposed to freezing temperatures, the Dorchester community gathered outside the Roman Catholic Saint Peter’s parish in Columbia road to hold a vigil in her honor.

With candlelight in their hands, attendees congregated to remembered their neighbor while a priest offered a prayer in Portuguese, followed by a beautiful chant and words by family members, friends, and neighbors.
