The Boston Tax Help Coalition is offering free tax assistance in the neighborhood for those who need help preparing their taxes to qualify for the EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit). This free service is aimed to those who worked during 2018 and earned less than $55,000, and will ensure that if you’re eligible for the tax refund —worth up to $6,318— you invest that money where you most need it, instead of paying for tax preparation.
The Tax Help Coalition has a list of requirements available online for residents to bring to the Coalition tax sites, in order to get help filing these taxes. According to the organization, you’re eligible if you’re:
- Single
- with 3 or more children and earn $48,430 or less;
- with 2 or more children and earn $45,007 or less;
- with 1 child and earn $39,617 or less;
- with no children and earn $15,010 or less (and you are between the ages of 25 and 65);
- Married
- with 3 or more children and earn $53,930 or less;
- with 2 or more children and earn $50,597 or less;
- with 1 child and earn $45,207 or less;
- with no children and earn $20,600 or less (and you are between the ages of 25 and 65).
The tax sites will be available from January 2019 to April 2019; the full list of addresses can be seen on the flyer below. The Dorchester sites will be at the ABCD: Dorchester NSC (110 Claybourne Street), Codman Square Health Center (450 Washington Street) and DotHouse Health (1353 Dorchester Avenue).
