Jerry Bergonzi. (Credits: Discogs)Greater Ashmont Main Street and their Mandorla Music Series are opening their first show of the year this week, as part of their 2018-2019 bimonthly Dot Jazz Series. The Parish of All Saints will be hosting the Jerry Bergonzi Quintet, led by the internationally recognized tenor sax and Boston native Jerry Bergonzi and his quintet, comprised this time of Phil Grenadier (trumpet), Plamen Karadonev (piano), Greg Loughman (bass) and Austin McMahon (drums). During his long career, Bergonzi has been featured in more than 30 solo albums and several others as part of trios, quartets and quintets, and his style has been compared to Joe Henderson and Wayne Shorter.
The event takes place this Thursday, January 10th 2019 at the Peabody Hall of the Parish of All Saints (209 Ashmont St, Dorchester 02124) at 7PM. Tickets will cost $15 and includes dessert and non-alcoholic beverages to accompany the presentation; wine will be available as well. This program is sponsored by the Boston Cultural Council.
