The Mayor of Boston Marty Walsh and the Dorchester Running Club is inviting the community to the Fourth Annual Halfway to Dot Day 5K Road Race that will take place next month, where participants of all ages will be running in the designated paths of the DCR Pope John Paul II Park in Dorchester (Hallet Street, Boston MA 02124). The course consists of a flat, paved 5km road inside the Park, and will have water stands along the way decorated in the holiday fashion, and there will be award mentions for those participants who arrive first in their respective age brackets, as well as an overall winner.
The event will also have a Mayor-sponsored Toy Drive & Breakfast, where participants are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy and to donate if they can to the Boston Center for Youth & Families. This breakfast will take place at the Florian Hall.
The 5K Road Race is scheduled for Saturday, December 8th 2018, meeting at the Florian Hall (55 Hallet St, Dorchester MA 02124) before 9AM when the kickstart shotgun takes place. The entry fee is also $20 —with the proceeds going towards to the cause of the event— and the same applies for the Toy Drive & Breakfast later that day, for those who can’t bring a toy. Parking will be available at the Walgreens’ parking lot (757 Gallivan Boulevard). Those who wish to participate may register here.
