Photo courtesy of Caroline Bonarde UcciRenowned actor and Dorchester native, Mark Wahlberg, has used his influence on social media to help raise awareness about an act of vandalism in his hometown.
On October 26th, 2018, the Dorchester Vietnam Memorial was reported vandalized and the community started raising funds to do the repairs.
Wahlberg helped out by sending a Tweet to his more than 3 million followers featuring the fundraiser campaign hosted on Gofundme.

The Dorchester Vietnam Memorial honors 80 Dorchester men who made the ultimate sacrifice in the Vietnam War and has been maintained for over 30 years thanks to the donations received from community supporters.
Almost $20,000 have been raised of the $25,000 estimated for the repairs.
