Dorchester resident and former Boston City Councilor, Ayanna Pressley, made her way to represent the Massachusetts 7th Congressional District in the Congress of the United States of America.

Democrat Pressley ran unopposed and her victory was almost written in stone, but this was after defeating on September 4th a longtime incumbent – and also Democrat- Michael Capuano in his first contested primary in two decades.

The 7th Congressional District is the first in Massachusetts where minorities make up a majority of the voting population, and includes the cities of Chelsea, Everett, Randolph, and Somerville, approximately 70% of Boston, about 50% each of Cambridge and Milton
