Michael Clancy, a Social Studies Teacher at Boston College High School (BC High), was recently honored as one of the first recipients of the prestigious Archdiocese of Boston Excellence in Education Award.
This annual award honors elementary and secondary school teachers’ commitment to developing “saints and scholars” in the Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Boston. Clancy will receive $1,500 and be honored at a luncheon in May with Cardinal Seán O’Malley and Superintendent of the Archdiocese of Boston Catholic Schools, Kathy Mears.
Clancy has served at BC High for eight years. Prior, he served as a teacher in Los Angeles and North Carolina. His personal educational philosophy is to “inspire all students, regardless of their backgrounds, to learn.”
Apart from his academic duties, Clancy has taken on many responsibilities at BC High over the years. He has coached track and football, moderated “Students for Soldiers” and “Students for Bipartisanship”, and chaperoned international student service trips.
