On April 21st, players, families and elected officials gathered at McConnell Park for the opening day of the Dorchester Baseball league.

With the motto “New league, new teams, new friendship, one Dorchester!”, this event kicked-off the merger of Savin Hill Little League & Cedar Grove Baseball, creating the Dorchester Little League and the Dorchester Babe Ruth.

The new league operates under two charters. Ages 4-12 will be chartered through Dorchester Little League, and ages 13+ will be chartered through Dorchester Babe Ruth.

According to the organization, one of the reasons for this decision was to promote a greater sense of unity within the Dorchester community, focusing on providing kids from all different backgrounds and neighborhoods the chance to meet and make new friendships.
