The event, held at the Cambridge Innovation Center, located in the center of power in Boston, was a warm meeting where attendees from countries such as Venezuela, the United States, and India, learned about Comunicas’ mission while eating Venezuelan empanadas from Los Chamos restaurant.
During his speech, Juan Perfetti gave thanks to the people of Venezuela “for resisting, for having hope” and “for inspiring all of us, who are outside and inside the country”.
“Comunicas will continue with you, being a support to raise your voice from the neighborhoods, to help you exercise your freedom of expression and thought, to help you create bridges and points in common among you, that in the end, regardless of your political ideas, your socioeconomic position, your race or the faith you profess, your are all Venezuelans and the vast majority wants a better country for you and your children, ” Perfetti said.

The introduction to the launch of the campaign was carried out by Dr. Enrique Alí González Ordosgoitti, professor at the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), the “Andrés Bello” Catholic University (UCAB), and the Institute of Theology for Religious (ITER), affiliate to the Salesian Pontifical University of Rome (UPSR).
González Ordosgoitti highlighted in his speech the importance of Comunicas and the role of neighborhoods in the so-called era of “post-truth,” where “political correctness” and “alternative facts” are “formulations that act as a straitjacket or as an ideological stick to prevent the free flow of a true truth to the real facts “.
“The exclusion of the opinion of the communities of neighbors affects something central to human life: it affects the truth, it affects the right to the truth that every human being has,” González Ordosgoitti stated.
Supporting Comunicas is to support the search for truth, through the increase of the media power of neighborhood communities,” Dr. González Ordosgoitti said.
